No, it's not an album title (so far as I know).
Like a lot of people whose jobs were primarily office-based
before COVID, I work a hybrid pattern now, working primarily from home with [at
least] one office day per week. I work for an organisation that has a number of
offices around England in our own right, and there are other offices that we
share with organisations from the same family.
My friend Catherine works for the same organisation that I do, but nowadays
often works at locations closer to where she lives than the office I use.
Yesterday, having planned it last week, we were actually in
the same place at the same time for the first time this year. After we bade each other a gently humorous
Happy New Year, we settled down to the day’s work – which for me involved two
very long Teams meetings/video calls bracketing a lunch break. Catherine and I had already planned to
resurrect our tradition of going for a walk at lunchtime to escape the
processed air that you get in modern offices where you can’t open the windows. Ours is a newbuild with floor-to-ceiling glass
walls. It’s a lovely office, but you do need fresh air!
Catherine had explored a path that that led to the riverside; I didn’t even know that particular one existed! Parts of it are, well, utilitarian, but there are spots with beautiful views along the Nene and one spot with a quintessential English view along the water to a local church. In places, there are some large clumps of Ground ivy. I just love the intensity of their colour, which is why I took a few photos (mobile phone, Samsung A23, automatic settings, if you're interested). It’s a member of the mint family, Lamiaceae, by the way, as are dead-nettles, and it spreads both by seed and vegetatively so it can be quite invasive given half a chance. The flowers are visited by a wide range of pollinators – and value to pollinators is always a plus point in my mind.
