Bluebells and stitchwort

In the Spring, I always reckon that it is my favourite time of the year because of the amazing fresh greens of new foliage and because of all the wildflowers.  Granted, I say the same thing in Summer (green leaves, blue skies, swallows), Autumn (colours, mellowness), and Winter (horizontal light, hoar frost, icy sunsets…).

We have a number of bluebell woods near here, including one that has a lovely riverside boardwalk and I know of one woodland edge that was carpeted in stitchwort last year.  Unfortunately, the latter was on private land and I couldn’t get a decent photo from the public side of the fence.  Such is life!

Anyway, at the edge of a different woodland further along my route, just as you enter a particular clearing, there is this breathtaking swathe of a mixture of stitchwort and bluebells.  A little further on, there are a few early purple orchids as well. There are deer as well, and they and I do the 'if I keep still enough you can't see me' thing.  Until lockdown, I had never walked this particular route; it is one of my favourites now.

Again, I took this photo with a phone camera (Samsung A23) rather than with a dedicated camera.  Many of my photos, including this one, are opportunistic rather than planned and set up.  I really ought to take a Gorilla tripod (other brands are available) with me and experiment with it.
